Spindrift is Award-Winning!

Spindrift took home the Best Sports Podcast Award at the Independent Podcast Awards 2023!

I went along to the Awards ceremony at King’s Place in London with zero expectation; as far as I was concerned, being shortlist was winning, especially given I was up against some very well established podcasts and some big names. So I almost didn’t believe it when compare called out Spindrift as the category winner! Somewhere floating about on the internet is a video of a slightly shell-shocked Aoife walking up to the stage to collect my prize.

Afterwards, I was ushered into a little back room where the organisers were filming reaction interviews - goodness only knows what I said, as I was slightly dazed by the whole thing.

And once released, I grabbed a glass of Prosecco and enjoyed chatting to the other podcasters in attendance.

The whole event was brilliantly organised and run, and I really appreciated the fact it was aimed at independent podcasts. A lot of these podcasts are the passion projects of the people behind them, who pour their blood, sweat and tears into something, without the support of a professional team of editors, marketers and broadcasters.

Winning the award was a massive boost of confidence, and a vote of support for Spindrift and what I’m trying to do with it. So hopefully going forward I can continue to find and share brilliant, engaging, interesting stories from lovely people, around the world of cycling… and maybe a few forays outside of cycling too! Who knows…. watch this space!
